The Crown of Life By Kirpal Singh
IN the foregoing sections of this study, we have seen how it I has been taught since time immemorial by the Indian sages that behind the apparent self of which we are conscious in everyday existence, the self that shirks pain and seeks pleasure, that changes from moment to moment and is subject to the effect of time and space, there is the permanent “Self,” the Atman.
Doorways in Consciousness: An Exploration of Resonant Being
Many cultures around the globe embrace sound in their exoteric and esoteric traditions. This essay reviews the role sound plays in the religions, creation myths, and sacred technologies of various peoples. This review connects creativity with healing which is considered an act of regeneration thus creating health in the body.
The Application of Yoga Meditation Techniques by Sri Brahmarishi Narad
Focus your full, undivided attention in the center of your brain where the pineal gland is located. Listen with your attention for whatever sounds present themselves.
Soundless Sound – The Tone that fills the Cosmos From Yoga International Magazine
Most readers would be aware of the different forms of popular yoga, namely: Hatha yoga, Jnana yoga, Bhakti yoga, Karma yoga, Raja yoga, Mantra yoga and Laya yoga. Regardless of the differing emphasis one tradition of yoga places over another, all should have the same goal. That goal, put simply, is to separate the individualized soul from mind and matter, and unify it with the universal Soul (God or Brahma).
Nada Yoga By Soraya Oldfield
Nada Yoga is the exploration of consciousness through the vehicle of sound and the discovery of its source. Although a distinct path of its own, nada yoga can also include other aspects of yoga that relate to transformation through sound such as music, tone, and the art of listening.
Sant Mat / Radhasoami Cosmology
Sant Mat/Radhasoami proposes an elaborate cosmology concerning a series of spiritual universes beyond the physical. In many ways it is more like western esoteric teachings such as Neoplatonism,Kabbalah (albeit without the complex dialectic of the latter), Theosophy, and Max and Alma Theon, rather than Indian teachings which tend to have a much simpler cosmology.
Modern Teachings
Beyond all the numerous religious faiths, philosophical treatises, and mystical dabblings the spiritual searchers of the world have been subject to over the centuries, there are a number of modern systems, groups and organizations currently involved in teaching some form of sound current meditation.
Tinnitus – curse or blessing?
I’d like to share two insights with you, for me two of the most precious that I received from our teacher, Yogiji.
The Sound Current
Ever since I can remember, I’ve heard this high pitched sound in my head. It’s kind of like the keening made by high voltage electrical wires or when an old TV is switched off. I knew this sound wasn’t caused by blood flowing through my ear drums because it didn’t vary with my pulse or any other physical function.
Keeping Up With Creation
When I was fourteen, I discovered the Sound Current. Not all about it of course, but enough to know it was my tangible proof GOD was always there. To a degree, my entire spiritual education has been about the Sound Current. In the beginning, as I listened to it, it seemed as though I was only listening to one note, one instrument.
Janet and Sound Current
I’ve been lurking for many months as I’ve been searching for a ways to understand my T. I’ve had that high electrical tone constantly buzzing between my ears for about a year. My problem has been that I couldn’t point to specific cause of the T (no loud noises in my past, no head injury, no serious stress).
Audible Life Stream
The audible life stream is perhaps one of my favorite spiritual insights. It is common to many traditions both in the east and the west, but is only central to a few. It is an ever present sound underlying all things and it is a connection to the pure energy that flows down from the higher regions where negativity does not exist. When we are able to connect with it, we are filled with an absolute warmth and contentedness. Above all else it fills us with love.
The Yoga of Sound – Listening to the Music of the Universe, Part 5
The ancient Schools of Spirituality, including: Sant Mat, Kabbalah, Mandaean Gnosis, Sufism, and others, see themselves as preserving a Perennial Philosophy of the Ages. Some see a line of Masters and Mystics, the keepers of spiritual Knowledge, as existing throughout all of recorded history. Some of these great souls include: Seth, Enoch, Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, the Teacher of Righteousness, John the Baptist, Yeshua, Valentinus, Saint Isaac the Syrian, Mohammad, Rabia of Basra, Rumi, Hafiz, Namdev, Kabir, Guru Nanak, Tukarama, Mirabai, Dadu, Dariya Sahib, Tulsi Sahib, Swami Ji Maharaj, and others right up to the present time.
The Yoga of Sound – Listening to the Music of the Universe, Parts I & II
No doubt, many of you saw the movie Contact, based upon the book with that same title authored by the late Dr. Carl Sagan.
The Yoga of Sound – Listening to the Music of the Universe, Parts III & IV
Across the many centuries and around the world, mystics, in the scriptures they left behind, recorded some of their experiences with inner Sound, the heavenly Music that comes from beyond the silence. Encountering the Sound Current might be as subtle as hearing a faint tone or hum in meditation, or as blissful as becoming one with a cosmic symphony on a higher plane of existence — an experience beyond what earthly language is capable of truly conveying.
Nada Yoga – Yoga of Sound By Frank Perry
Nada Yoga consists of two words. The Word Yoga means Union with the Divine Source of All Life. As the Divine is living within All things, so it is that there are many Pathways to the Divine.
Naam or Word – Shabd The Sound Principle By Kirpal Singh
In Sanskrit “Shabd” is a root but we do not know its construction, as with other words. It means awaz (sound), akhar (word), kalam (talk), Ism (name), zamir (essence), bachan (spoken word), wazahat (exposition), sarahat (clarity), izhar (expression), taqrir (speech), etc.
Naam or Word – Introductory
NAAM is easier said than known and practiced. It is only an adept in the mysteries of Naam who knows its true significance and the great power that lies hidden in it. Apparently it is just a syllable, but what it connotes is beyond understanding even by the most learned in book knowledge; though it may be possible to apprehend it through the grace of one well versed not only in the theory but in the practice as well of the Word.
Naam or Word – A Study in Naam Kirpal Singh
The Word (Sound) is echoing and re-echoing in the whole of creation. There is no place without It. It is resounding in the living temple of the human body.
Introduction to Shabda Meditation by Michael Turner
Ever since the late 19th Century when British rule of India began bringing eastern philosophy westward, and especially since the dawn of the modern new age movement in the 1960’s, people have been interested in a wide variety of occult, metaphysical and spiritual paths. All of these paths (or areas of interest) are like facets on the diamond of God.

Akatha, the Ancient Science of Sahaji
The most important part of the teaching is finding one’s inner sound current (high electrical pitch heard inside one) using the AKATHA (a’ kuh tuh) Spiritual Exercise. The latter affords one the Sahaji ability (Sahaji [suh hah’ jee] is known as Soul Travel by some teachings, but the former is the higher Sanskrit word for it).
Advanced Sound Current Meditation
Audinometry refers to the sound current, the sounds of Om or Aum, which is the audible life stream or the ringing tone one can hear when all other sounds are silent. Audinometry is the practice of measuring, experiencing, controlling and comprehending the sonic chords and light spectrums within your own being…the Vital Essence which causes all life to be. Elan Vital is the name of the spiritual school of The Eureka Society. It is a French term meaning “the vital essence”. We feel this program encompasses the vital essence of a good, stable spiritual progression.
Naam or Word – Amrit-Nectar or the Water of Life By Kirpal Singh
AMRIT or Aab-i-Hayat or Maha Ras is the elixir of life, or whoever partakes of it gets everlasting life and escapes forever from the otherwise interminable round of births and deaths.
What is Music of the Spheres
Aristotle … imputed this symphony of the heavens … this music of the spheres to Pythagoras. … But Pythagoras alone of mortals is said to have heard this harmony … If our hearts were as pure, as chaste, and as snowy as Pythagoras’ was, our ears would resound and be filled with that supremely lovely music of the wheeling stars.
The Shabd Yoga Influence: Dr. Bhagat Singh Thind and John-Roger Hinkins
One of the peculiar historical trends rampant in Radhasoami is the large number of gurus and groups in America which have attempted to genealogically dissociate themselves from their original ministries.
The Light and Sound of God
The Light and Sound of God is both visible and audible and is witnessed as the Light of God and heard as the Sound of God. It is purely spiritual, non-phenomenal and has the power to resurrect soul.
The Impact of Radhasoami on the Quasi-Temporary Movements
In subatomic physics a cursory search of underlying particles only reveals those materials which have a semi-permanent basis. But looking further physicists discovered that there are in fact other subatomic materials, coined “virtual particles,” which exist only for nanoseconds and even then only under certain very “hot” conditions.
The History Of Radhasoami In The United States
The evolution of religion is directly connected to the evolution of communication technologies. To understand the limits of the latter is to also understand the limits of the former’s potential for growth. Thus all histories of religion are to some measure histories of human development, especially as it relates to the transmission of information.
The Genealogical Connection: Kirpal Singh, Paul Twitchell, and Eckankar
That religions often evolve out of other past religions is a well-known phenomenon: witness Christianity’s emergence from Judaism. What is not so well known, however, is how certain religions try togenealogically dissociate themselves from their historical roots.
Shabdism in North America
There are now several popular religious movements in North America which owe their existence, either partially or wholly, to the Radhasoami tradition of India. The spectrum ranges from immediate connections, as in Eckankar and the Divine Light Mission whose founders have taken initiation from one of the Satgurus, to associative influences where sects have borrowed (and, in some cases, plagiarized) writings and spiritual lineages from Radhasoami.
